First Looks: Case-Mate Dockster for iPhone 3G, iPod nano 4G + iPod touch 2G

Friday, November 28th, 2008

As a clone of Griffin’s Elan Form cases, Case-Mate’s new Dockster for iPhone 3G ($30), iPod nano 4G ($15), and iPod touch 2G ($30) is a plastic shell with a thin layer of leather covering part of its exterior surfaces. The Dockster name comes from its ability to slide its bottom half off for easy use with form-fitting docks — not that they’re common for these devices — as well as other potentially incompatible accessories. Case-Mate includes protective…

Friday, November 28th, 2008

Case-mate’s latest Signature Series Leather Case ($30) is for the iPod touch 2G, using the same combination of a hardshell and black leather coating we’ve seen in earlier generations of the product. This one looks to be nicely sculpted to the new iPod touch, with an improved full face screen protector that leaves only the Home button open; the top, bottom, and side buttons are also exposed in the reasonably priced design….

First Looks: Case-Mate Naked Case for iPod nano 4G

Friday, November 28th, 2008

Trading on the name of the company’s previous, protective cases for the iPhone and iPhone 3G, Case-Mate’s new Naked Case for iPod nano 4G ($20) is a clear hard plastic shell with integrated screen coverage, but no included Click Wheel protector — a surprise given the company’s typically comprehensive approach to protecting iPods’ faces. The two-piece shell slides open on the back to let you insert the nano, and frames part of its face with a ring…

Based on the same concept as prior cases from Case-Mate, iFrogz, and BES, Case-Mate’s latest Vroom Cases ($15) have been resized to fit the iPod nano 4G and iPod touch 2G. They’re all black, and look like tire treads, particularly on their back surfaces; screen and control protectors are included to keep the iPods’ glass safe inside. We continue to be pleased by their affordable prices….
