Review: iSkin Revo2 for iPhone 3G

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

There’s good news and bad news for fans of iSkin’s premium silicone rubber cases this year: after the release of the original Revo for iPhone in 2007, the Canadian company has made substantial improvements to a design that we felt was good but not great. But a few issues that dogged the prior Revo are still found in Revo2, leaving us anxious for a sequel to the company’s superior Fuze design. The original Revo introduced a few novel…

First Looks: United SGP Corp. SGP Shield for iPhone 3G

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Created as a sophisticated alternative to the clear film protectors we’ve reviewed and liked from companies such as FullBodyFilms, NLU Products, and Zagg, United SGP Corporation’s new SGP Shield for iPhone 3G ($26) combines a clear thermoplastic urethane rear film layer with a Steinheil premium hard face film to offer comprehensive iPhone 3G coverage. The rear film resists yellowing, scratches, and tearing, while the front film is based upon Japanese…

Highly similar to the company’s prior Gecko Glove rubber cases, the iPhone Glove ($19, also known as iPhone glove for iPhone 3G and Gecko Glove for iPhone 3G) is a simple silicone sleeve that covers the majority of the iPhone 3G with ribbed rubber, exposing the screen, headphone port, ringer switch, and camera. A Dock Connector cover plugs the bottom accessory port, leaving the adjacent speaker and microphone exposed. No screen protector is included;…

Though they are only a step or two better than generic in design, we have previously liked PDO’s TopSkin cases for one major reason: value for the dollar. Whereas other companies have tried to find ways to justify asking way too much for simple rubber skins, PDO’s $20 iPod and iPhone packages include a highly protective case, a screen protector, and a detachable ratcheting belt clip, the latter an item generally found only in more expensive…

In a press release issued today, however, Altec Lansing announced that its T612 Digital Speaker System for iPhone and iPod has “passed ‘Works…

Review: DLO Jam Jacket for iPhone 3G

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

DLO released two different versions of its rubber Jam Jacket design for the original iPhone: a $25 original version with integrated earbud management on its back, and a $20 sequel that dropped the earbud manager for a simpler flat back. Jam Jacket for iPhone 3G is based substantially upon the second version, with literally all of the same features and design touches, only now with tailoring touches made for the curvier iPhone model. The case itself…
